PRODUCTION SOUND MIXER - VANCOUVER ISLAND
Based in Victoria on Vancouver Island, O'Brien has worked on commercials for the likes of Wal-Mart, Telus, Lululemon, Best Buy and IBM. His recent documentary clients include MTV Europe, Hasbro, BC Hydro and the NHL Network. From 2016 to 2018 he completed over twenty television movies for The Hallmark Channel, Lifetime and Netflix. Feature film credits include, The Sun at Midnight and Red Snow. In 2018, O'Brien was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for his work on the film, Never Steady, Never Still.
A self taught sound technician, Chris holds certificates from the Langara Film Arts Program in Vancouver and the Manhattan Editing Workshop in New York City.
PRODUCTION SOUND CART
Built in Vancouver by Dinosaur Cases, our custom sound cart
is capable of providing up to 12 channels of wireless audio.
We use both the Sennheiser and Schoeps brand of shotgun and supercardioid microphones, combined with Sanken COS-11 lavalier mics for recording the talent.
Our wireless kits include Lectrosonics transmitters and receivers paired with a Sound Devices 688 mixer/recorder.
We'll supply digital slates and timecode for single or multi-camera shoots of all formats.
For large commercial shoots we're able to provide many Comteks.
Producers are provided daily with detailed sound reports.

For a simple interview set-up, or a run-and-gun documentary, and everything in between.
Our sound bag can offer up to six channels of wireless audio.
The Lectrosonics brand transmitters and receivers, microphones, slates, time-code and comteks from the Sound Cart are all the same, providing producers with top quality gear and audio even if you're filming in a remote location like a mountain top or on a boat miles offshore.

Since 2015 we've traveled over 150,000km around the world for documentaries, commercials and feature films.
We've recorded sound in Stockholm, Los Angeles, Inuvik, Milan, Toronto, London, New York, Geneva, San Francisco,Yellowknife, Venice and a multitude of cities in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest.
